A
22-year-old Bear man faces drug charges after more than 500 bags of
heroin were found in his residence, New Castle County police said in a
release Wednesday.
During March, members of the Drug Control Squad
received information about illegal drug activity and sales at a
residence in the Village of Crofton in Bear and began an investigation,
Cpl. John Weglarz said.
On Tuesday, police obtained a search
warrant and carried out a search at the residence in the first block of
Bohemia Drive, he said. Manuel Colon, Michael Clements and Dajuan Jones
were taken into custody without incident.
Weglarz said that during
the search, detectives found a backpack with 467 bags of heroin (11.675
grams), a cigarette box with 87 bags of heroin (2.175 grams) and drug
paraphernalia (packaging materials and a marijuana grinder). He said
that a total of 554 bags of heroin (13.85 grams) and $375 of suspected
drug money were seized.
A computer check revealed Clements had an
outstanding capias issued by the New Castle County Court of Common
Pleas, and Jones had four outstanding capiases issued by Justice of the
Peace Court 11 and New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, as well as a
warrant issued by Delaware State Police for shoplifting and criminal
trespass, Weglarz said. Both were arraigned and released.
Colon
was charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, possession of
heroin in a Tier 5 quantity and possession of drug paraphernalia. He
was arraigned and was taken to Young Correctional Institution after
failing to post $40,200 secured bail. (http://www.delawareonline.com)
